Lincoln Park Project Overview: 

The Lincoln Park Project is the continuation of the Lincoln Park Master Plan (2015) improvements; however, the Parks and Recreation Department is additionally seeking input from neighbors to identify the current and emerging needs of the community for the Lincon Park space. These findings will help inform what improvements to prioritize in this project.  

 

Lincoln Park Project Budget: 

There is $1.1M budgeted for the Lincoln Park project. This budget includes the cost of design and construction. 

A portion of the budget will be used to make the following safety and accessibility upgrades to the park space:

  • Restrooms will receive ADA and aesthetic upgrades
  • General aesthetic and safety upgrades to the lodge building
  • Accessible walkways around the lodge and through the park
  • Removal of the parking lot on the corner of Garfield Ave NW & Jackson St NW and the reconstruction of the parking lot on Marion Ave NW

The 2015 Lincoln Park Master Plan

In 2014, the Parks and Recreation Department worked with community members to create a master plan for the park (image below - click image to enlarge):

Phase 1 of the master plan was completed in 2015, and improvements to the futsal courts were made in 2016.

Community Engagement: 2025

To ensure that future improvements reflect the current needs of the community, the Parks Department is seeking community input. 

Ways to Provide Input:

  • Take the Lincoln Park Improvements survey on the next page OR contact the John Ball Area Neighbors (616-456-9190 | info@swangr.org) to pick up a paper copy of the survey from their lodge building located at Lincoln Park.
