Little Falls Master Plan
Little Falls Master Plan
Welcome to the Township of Little Falls Master Plan website. We are preparing a new Township Master Plan to shape the physical, social, environmental, and economic future of the community. The Master Plan provides a framework for preserving the character of Little Falls, supporting investment, and promoting desired changes.
The process will take several months to complete, with a goal to have the plan complete in mid-2024.
The public survey is available for all residents to take. We appreciate all your efforts to have your opinion heard on all of the topics that the Master Plan covers. In addition to the survey, Little Falls residents will be able to share their opinions at the Master Plan Community Workshops. The Community Workshops will take place from September through November in the Township's Civic Center. Details about the dates and times are available below.
Your opinions will help to shape the Master Plan as the drafting process moves along. Once a draft of the Master Plan is complete, there will be a public meeting of the Planning Board in Spring 2024 to present the draft version to the public. Residents will again have an opportunity to provide their opinion on the Master Plan.
We look forward to hearing from you as the Master Plan process moves along!

What is a Master Plan?
A Master Plan provides a guide for the future development of a community. It serves as a comprehensive approach to planning issues and considers many factors impacting a community’s economic development needs.
The Master Plan gives the community the legal basis for control over future development, as well as land use planning policy and zoning changes. Most changes are implemented in the form of zoning amendments and land development ordinances.
Why is the Township doing a new Master Plan?
The last time the Township completed a new Master Plan was over two decades ago, in 2002. The way people live, travel, and do business has changed tremendously since then. We need a new planning document to guide land use policies, development, and infrastructure improvements to respond to our current and future needs.
What is covered by the new Master Plan?
The new Master Plan includes the following elements: Goals and Objectives, Land Use, Circulation, Parking, Economic Development, Sustainability, and Open Space.
In addition to the elements of the Master Plan, a number of community engagement events are being planned where residents, business owners and other interested people will be given the opportunity to participate in the planning process.
How can I participate?
Valuable insight into the Master Plan will be collected through the Master Plan survey on this webpage and through participation at community workshops and events. The survey page is currently open to responses, and you will be able to participate in the public outreach phase of the process by attending the community workshop that are scheduled to take place in the fall at the Little Falls Civic Center.
