A Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) establishes the maximum amount of pollutants that can enter a water body without violating water quality standards. Fairfax County has developed a plan. The plan documents how the County intends to reduce nutrient (Total Nitrogen & Total Phosphorus) pollution from stormwater discharges from the storm sewer owned and operated by the County. The County's Municipal Separate Storm Sewer (MS4) permit requires the County to solicit public input on the plan.
