UPDATE 11/4/25

Sadler Road is now open to traffic!

Please note that construction is ongoing on the southern section of the road, where the closure was in effect. Motorists may notice bumps and traffic cones, as well as intermittent lane closures while crews wrap up this first phase of improvements.

For everyone’s safety, drivers are reminded of the Virginia “Move Over” law: they are required to change lanes or reduce speed when approaching stationary vehicles with flashing red, blue or amber lights. They should also slow down for workers (or pedestrians!) on the side of the road.

The ongoing construction will include completion of the roundabout and the shared-use path, landscaping and final paving and striping.

Over the next few weeks, work will move north to continue widening Sadler and begin construction of an improved creek crossing and a roundabout at Sadler Grove Road.

We will keep you updated as more information becomes available. We appreciate everyone’s patience!

UPDATE 10/31/25

Sadler Road is expected to reopen next week.

Paving is complete in the construction zone with weather-dependent final touches, such as striping, still needed.

Thank you to our community for their patience as this portion of the project is completed. We can’t wait for everyone to enjoy the new shared-use path and roundabout!

We will update when the road is open.

UPDATE 10/15/25

We know the Sadler Road closure has been frustrating for residents in the area. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances during construction, the road will continue to be closed for a few more weeks.

Our inspectors are on site with the contractor every day checking on the work and doing everything possible to reopen the road as soon as possible.

We will update as soon as we have a confirmed date for reopening the road. As the remaining construction items are weather-dependent, we don’t have a timeline yet. In the meantime, check out some photos of the progress!

UPDATE 10/6/25

Check out the work that's gotten done! The shared-use path is almost complete and the roundabout at Sadler and Innslake Drive is taking shape.

The road is expected to reopen in mid-October. Construction will still be happening in the area when the road is reopened, so we ask all road users to be careful until the full project is complete.

In addition, Public Works would like to ask that residents please stay out of the construction area while the road is closed. It is not safe to walk through an active site, even if workers are not on site.

UPDATE 10/1/25

Sadler Road is currently closed to through traffic between Innslake Drive and Scotland Lane. The closure is expected to remain in place until mid-October.

This closure is to facilitate part of the project's realignment of the road, adding the shared-use path and a roundabout at Sadler's intersection with Innslake Drive/Old Sadler Road.

Traffic is being detoured around the work zone by way of Dominion Boulevard, Innslake, Cox Road, Sadler Place, Sadler, Sadler Walk Lane and Glasgow Road.
