Monroe Avenue Resurfacing

In 2014, Grand Rapids voters established the Vital Streets fund. This fund dedicates its focus to improving our street conditions. The Monroe Avenue project is funded by Vital Streets. Construction will begin in April and is expected to be complete in June 2026.

Monroe Avenue (Newberry to Coldbrook)

Construction is expected to start in April 13.

This is a resurfacing project. Contractors will replace the road and upgrade what is listed below:

  • Driveway approaches and sidewalks

  • Parkways and street trees

Project Limits and Detour

Contractors will work on one side of the street at a time. One direction of traffic will be maintained.

The detour will use Ottawa and Newberry, shown in blue below.
