Broadband Study Needs Assessment Comment Form
The Digital Equity Group is conducting the Broadband Study to further our understanding of broadband and digital inclusion in the County and collect ideas and considerations as we develop future broadband and digital equity policies and programming. The County recently released the Broadband Resource Evaluation and Needs Assessment Report.
In 2022, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) began requiring internet service providers to report address-level service information to inform the National Broadband Map. This resource displays the number of internet service providers, internet speed, and available technology (e.g., fiber, cable, fixed wireless) across the country as reported by internet providers. To develop the Broadband Resource Evaluation and Needs Assessment Report. The report uses service data that was published in November 2022 to create the summary statistics presented in the report.
To ensure the most accurate map possible, the FCC has developed a process to dispute, or challenge, information on the map that may be inaccurate. Challenges to the data over time are likely to make the dataset more reliable and accurate; however, it is the best data available today.
