Mandatory Water Reuse Ordinances
Mandatory Water Reuse Ordinances
ABOUT
Austin Water needs your input to help finalize the requirements for water reuse in new large commercial developments. Austin City Council adopted ordinance number 20210930-117 in September of 2021 to advance water reuse strategies from the 2018 Water Forward Plan. This ordinance makes it a requirement for new commercial, multi-family and mixed-use site development permits with at least 250,000 square feet of gross floor area to incorporate onsite water reuse systems or reclaimed water systems beginning December 1, 2023.
UPDATE:
The community participation portion of this project has ended and we are currently incorporating community feedback into the plan. Stay tuned for more!
