Concept Design Background

Goals and Planning Guidance

  • The complete streets project seeks to improve crossings and access for people walking and biking on North Sycamore Street from Langston Boulevard to 19th Street North.

  • The East Falls Church Area Plan (2011) and the Master Transportation Plan Bicycle Element (2019) identify various pedestrian and bicycle improvements in the East Falls Church area within the project limits.
    • Improve pedestrian environment
    • Reduce crossing distance, remove channelized right turn lanes and improve curb ramps at intersections
    • Improve bicycle facilities

Project area - N. Sycamore Street (Langston Boulevard to 19th Street N.)
