Glenwood South is known for its vibrant mix of long-standing neighborhoods, businesses, restaurants, and nightlife. This district has experienced significant growth over the past 15 years that has contributed to its lively atmosphere, while also highlighting the need for updated transportation infrastructure that will meet the demands of its current and future residents, workers, and visitors.

The Mobility Development Group in the Transportation Department is leading the Glenwood South Safety Pilot, which is focused on improving the pedestrian safety and experience on Glenwood Avenue from North Street to Johnson Street. Over the next 6 months, staff will gather input from residents along and around Glenwood South and work to implement quick-build intersection updates.

What's more is that these updates serve a larger goal. Staff will gather data on pedestrian behavior to identify recommendations for potential long-term streetscape improvements in Glenwood South.
