In 2014, Grand Rapids voters established the Vital Streets fund. This fund dedicates its focus to improving our street conditions. The Alger Street project from Division to Madison is funded by Vital Streets. This project is expected to begin in 2027.
About the project
Alger Street (Division to Madison)
Construction is expected to start in 2027.
This is a reconstruction project. Contractors will replace the road and upgrade what is listed below:
- Watermain replacement and lead water service line replacements
- Driveway approaches and sidewalks
- Complete the bicycle connection on Alger from Division to Madison
- Parking changes
- Pedestrian crossings at key locations to improve safety
- Street trees
