Pickleball Game Lines
Pickleball Game Lines
Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States. To provide additional outdoor pickleball opportunities, Raleigh Parks is considering adding pickleball lines to existing tennis courts. The United States Tennis Association, which governs a majority of organized tennis play in the City of Raleigh, does not allow pickleball lines to exist on courts used for USTA matches. Because of this regulation, additional striping cannot be considered for all Raleigh Parks tennis facilities. Your feedback is important and will help us understand the community use of existing spaces and interest in this improvement project.
What is Pickleball?
Pickleball is a fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. Pickleball can be played both indoors or outdoors on a badminton-sized court using a slightly modified tennis net. It is played as doubles or singles with a paddle and a plastic ball with holes. The sport has many physical and social benefits.
Note: The City of Raleigh currently has six permanent outdoor pickleball courts located at Method Road Park - 514 Method Road, Raleigh, NC, 27608
What are blended lines?
Additional boundary lines can be added to existing tennis court game lines to accommodate play for both user groups. These are commonly referred to as "blended lines". A pickleball court measures 20’ wide by 44’ long. Six sets of pickleball game lines can be added on two tennis courts. With this striping option, a temporary pickleball net must be used.
In this illustration, the existing tennis court lines are shown in green and the pickleball game lines are shown in blue.
