Notice of Study Completion

The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury has completed the Schedule ‘C’ Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) Study for Holland Street East and West. The Study area extends from Professor Day / Melbourne Drive, east to Dissette Street / Marshview Boulevard (refer to Study area map below). As per the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process for Schedule ‘C’ projects, the final Environmental Study Report (ESR) has been made public for its required 30 calendar-day public review period, beginning on October 6, 2022, and ending on November 6, 2022. You can find the Notice of Study Completion, the ESR and its corresponding appendices in the 'Documents' section along the right sidebar of this page.

About this Study

The purpose of the Study is to transform Holland Street to align with the Town’s Strategic Plan, which includes: promoting employment growth; improving community and traffic safety; reducing congestion; and upgrading existing facilities. This Study is a key component in revitalizing the Town’s downtown core and transforming it into an inviting, walkable, people-friendly shopping district that will serve as a destination location for residents and visitors to enjoy.

What is a Schedule C Municipal Class Environmental Assessment?

The Holland Street East and West EA was completed in accordance with the Schedule ‘C’ process identified by the Municipal Engineers Association, adhering to the requirements of Phases 1 through 4 of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment. Through this process, the study team has: confirmed the needs, problems, and/or opportunities; evaluated alternative designs; selected a preferred design; examined impacts on the social, cultural, and natural environments; and identified measures to mitigate those impacts..

This Study was carried out concurrently with the Town’s Transportation Master Plan (TMP) Study, which developed a guide for the sustainable, efficient, and safe movement of goods and people within and around the Town. The TMP also identified transportation infrastructure requirements and multi-modal network recommendations. The TMP and this MCEA Study represent a fully integrated approach to transportation planning for the study area.
