Infrastructure improvements in the East Cesar Chavez neighborhood

The City of Austin is working with CapMetro on a project to upgrade rail service and extend trail connectivity between Navasota Street and Robert T. Martinez Street. A new sidewalk along the north curb of East Fifth Street between Chalmers Street and Comal Street, a railroad crossing at Chalmers Avenue and connectivity improvements at Onion Street and Plaza Saltillo are proposed to be funded by the Parking and Transportation Management District, as pictured below.
