Regional Quincy Valley Parks District Levy (November 2023)

PROJECT INFORMATION

The City of Quincy is conducting an online survey to identify the community’s needs and expectations of its parks’ facilities. Current proposals include establishing a multi-sport Field House at Lauzier Park and an Aquatic Center at East Park. Community feedback will guide community leaders and staff in understanding needs and priorities, finding resources, and implementing the community’s vision.

To fund future improvements, the City is considering developing the Quincy Valley Regional Parks District. The “District” would be responsible for operations and management of the expanded parks and recreation facilities. Creation of the Quincy Valley Regional Parks District would depend on a property tax levy decided by voters this November 2023. If passed, the “District” will provide a dedicated and sustainable funding source for bonding, management, improvements, maintenance, and operations.

Q-Plex

The proposed Q-Plex is designed to serve as a major hub for the community, supporting virtually any kind of activity – from sports to community gatherings to regional events.

This inviting 143,000-square-foot, multi-use facility will be accessible and affordable for community members of all ages. Adjacent to Lauzier Park, this facility also complements other Quincy Parks Master Plan projects like outdoor baseball and soccer fields, community gardens, and Lauzier Park improvements. Q-Aquatic Center - East Park

The proposed Q-Aquatic Center is designed to replace the aging swimming pool, bathhouse, and waterslide/zero entry pool with a new facility located away from the irrigation canal and adjacent to the Quincy Pump Track. The existing pool and bathhouse were initially constructed in the 1960’s with the water slide added in the 1990’s. The Q-Aquatic Center will have a new ADA-compliant bathhouse, 6-lane swimming pool, water slides, and many new innovative water recreational activities.
