Camp Ernst Road, from Pleasant Valley to Hathaway Road, is a busy road that carries over 8,000 vehicles every day. These include our neighbors heading home from work, teens driving to school, families heading to Central Park for a youth sports game and so many others. The current two lane highway poses safety issues and can be congested at times. Boone County has several projects planned to protect your safety and help get you where you want to go. KEY PROJECT UPDATES
Work is underway to improve safety and traffic flow on Camp Ernst. Key updates include:
Corridor Reconstruction
- Planning continues for the Corridor Reconstruction.
- An Open House was held on June 29 and an online survey was open through July 20 to get initial insight on residents' priorities and recommendations. (View online survey results.) Consultants will use public feedback from the open house and online survey when developing design options.
- No designs have been created.
- An Open House will be held late winter/early spring 2027 for the public to review potential design options and provide input.
Roundabout Construction
- The Camp Ernst Road/Longbranch Road intersection remains closed to through traffic.Phase 3 of construction begins on Wednesday, July 22. This will create a new traffic pattern and detour.
- Drivers traveling south on Camp Ernst Road from Pleasant Valley Road will not be able to access Longbranch Road.
- Instead, motorists should follow the posted detour via Pleasant Valley Road, US 42, Old Union Road and Longbranch Road.
The northern portion of Camp Ernst Road (between Pleasant Valley Road and north of Longbranch Road) will only be accessible from the Pleasant Valley Road roundabout.
Drivers traveling north on Camp Ernst Road from Hathaway Road will be able to turn right onto Longbranch Road.
Access to homes, businesses and other destinations will be maintained, but motorists may need to approach from a different direction depending on their destination.
