Red Line Trail 60% Design Survey
Red Line Trail 60% Design Survey
The City of Austin Capital Delivery Services and Austin Transportation and Public Works Department are developing a 1.7-mile portion of the Red Line Urban Trail, to connect Braker Lane to the Northern Walnut Creek Trail. The project has reached 60% design.
The Urban Trails Program is seeking public input on the design. After reviewing the virtual open house, please take a few moments to complete this survey. Your valuable feedback will help us meet the needs and desires of our community.
Step 1
(required) Please select the ways in which you would use the Red Line Trail:
Red Line Trail Alignment
The trail alignment is the path the trail will take. Click here to view the full proposed Red Line Trail Alignment.
(required) With the intent to follow as closely to the Red Line rail route as possible, there are limited areas in which the Red Line Trail can be built. Given these constraints, how comfortable are you with the proposed trail route?
(required) How comfortable are you with the proposed design for Segment 1 (West Braker Lane to Kramer Lane)?
(required) How comfortable are you with the proposed design for Segment 3 (IBM Campus to Gracy Farms Lane)?
(required) How comfortable are you with the proposed design for Segment 4 (Gracy Farms Lane to the Northern Walnut Creek Trail?)
On Street Crossings
(required) How comfortable are you with the proposed design at this crossing?
At West Braker Lane the trail will cross six lanes of traffic. The design incorporates new crossing safety features, including a painted crosswalk and a protected median to break the crossings into two stages and provide a safe space to wait half-way across the street.
(required) If a PHB was installed at West Braker Lane, in addition to the design elements described above, how comfortable are you with the design at this crossing?
A pedestrian hybrid beacon (PHB) is a signal pole that flashes to stop traffic when pedestrians are present.
(required) How comfortable are you with the proposed design at this crossing?
At Kramer Lane the trail will cross two lanes of traffic. Currently, there is already a painted crosswalk with signage about the crosswalk. The design incorporates a new pedestrian crossing island to provide a safe space for pedestrians to wait half-way across the street.
(required) How comfortable are you with the proposed design at this crossing?
At the private road crossing near the IBM Campus and future Uptown ATX development the trail will cross two lanes of traffic. The design incorporates a new painted crosswalk.
(required) How comfortable are you with the proposed design at this crossing?
At Gracy Farms Lane the trail will cross two lanes of traffic. The design includes the repurposing of a short lane to reduce the crossing distance. Vehicles will still be able to make a U-turn after the crosswalk, which is how the lane is currently used. The design also incorporates a new painted crosswalk.
Overall Design
Please be sure to review the overall design in the virtual online open house.
(required) On a scale of 1 to 5, please rate your overall impression of the 60% design plans.
