RIDOT Carbon Reduction Strategy Plan

RIDOT Carbon Reduction Strategy Plan

Under the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), state DOTs are required to create a Carbon Reduction Strategy that helps strategize how to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the transportation sector. RIDOT is using this federal requirement as an opportunity to align with the state’s Act on Climate goals by designating projects and strategies for safe, reliable, and cost-effective options to reduce traffic congestion, facilitate low-emission vehicles and modes; and in general prioritize projects in the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) that aid that effort. The CRS is due to the Federal HIghway Administration (FHWA) Nov. 15, 2023. RIDOT is seeking public comment on the draft plan until Nov. 3, 2023.
