Project background
New street design:
This project made the following changes:
- Changed the Valley Avenue, 4th Street , and Mt. Mercy Drive intersection to a roundabout, as shown above.
- Upgraded sidewalk and curb ramps compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
- Planted new street trees.
- Placed new water main.
- Made minor improvements to the storm sewer system, which handles storm water. Stormwater is rainwater or water from melting snow or ice. The stormwater system includes catch basins (the grates found periodically along curbs) that collect the water from the street and carry it into a main line.
