SUMMER 2025 UPDATE: After hearing more feedback from the community and City leaders, the Parks Department is holding a second round of voting—with a smaller list of name options. This is to make sure the final name truly feels like it belongs to the neighborhood. We’d love for you to take part and help choose the name!

DEADLINE TO VOTE IS SEPTEMBER 8, 2025

We’re excited to announce that the City of Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Department is embarking on an important journey to give Plaza Roosevelt an official name that truly reflects the community. Currently, the park is referred to as Plaza Roosevelt as a temporary placeholder until the community finds the perfect name. Together, let’s find a name that reflects and celebrates the rich heritage and values of the neighborhood.

Plaza Roosevelt is located on the corner of Rumsey St SW and Cesar E Chavez Ave SW. See the map below for the location of the the park space.

The park space design was developed with extensive community input and includes various features such as smaller play areas, café-style seating, benches, a hammock grove, a rentable shelter space, a kiosk featuring the cupola from the St. Joseph the Worker Parish, and much more!
