Shawnee County has long been a trail innovator and is embarking on a county-wide Trails and Greenways Master Plan to thoroughly evaluate new trail growth, potential desired destinations, and types of trail facilities across the county.

Shawnee County has numerous trails and trail segments within the Topeka area. This effort is an ideal opportunity to connect communities and neighborhoods outside of Topeka in Shawnee County through trails. Areas of focus for connection include Auburn, Rossville, Silver Lake, Montara, Dover, and Tecumseh.

Feedback is needed both within individual communities and connections between them; this plan will assist in capturing those requests and ideas for future funding by Shawnee County Parks and Recreation, as well as other potential project developers, such as community foundations, municipalities, nonprofit organizations, and state and federal entities.
