Far East-Harrisburg Strategic Investment Area
Far East-Harrisburg Strategic Investment Area
The Strategic Investment Areas (SIA) Program will enhance accessibility and safety for residents and travelers in the Far East - Harrisburg area. Our vision is to provide safe and equitable mobility options for all through a connected, sustainable and innovative network. The City of Charlotte is focused on areas with the greatest impact, delivering projects with speed and purpose. This program is a key part of our mission to deliver high-impact mobility projects that enhance safety, equity, and accessibility.
These transformative projects will improve safety and comfort along Harrisburg Road, Robinson Church Road, Camp Stewart Road and Pence Road while connecting neighborhoods to transit, activity centers, schools, and parks with new sidewalks, upgrading existing intersections to better accommodate residents and provide new pedestrian crossings. The projects also include new street lighting, traffic signals, and intersection improvements.
Key investments include:
Over two miles of new sidewalks and shared-use paths.
Three signalized pedestrian crossings/crosswalks.
Four bus stop improvements.
Over five miles of new street lighting.
