Weaver Park Playground

Happening Now

Most of the work to modernize Weaver Park is substantially complete. Over the past few years, the park has received a significant “glow up” that includes:

  • Upgraded Courts: Rebuilt dual-lined courts lined for tennis and pickleball with new seating, fencing, and lighting, plus a resurfaced basketball court with new goals

  • Significant Ballfield Improvements: New lighting, dugouts, fencing, a batting cage, a bullpen, and visitor seating, as well as drainage improvements

  • Enhanced Accessibility: Rerouted Glenn’s Creek Greenway to provide better accessibility over a new pedestrian bridge connecting both sections of the park, a new walking path, and repaved parking lots

  • New Amenities and Landscaping: A new playground, new picnic tables, and overall landscaping improvements

The latest Weaver Park investments are a tangible reflection of Asheville Parks & Recreation's dedication to youth development, providing an upgraded ballfield and playground where Asheville’s children can build confidence and reach their full potential. By revitalizing these essential spaces, we strengthen our long-term commitment to fostering healthy, active lifestyles and leadership skills through competitive sports and shared community play.

Opportunities for Input

  • The community engagement phase is complete.  APR met with current and potential park users to determine best future uses of the space. Prior to the phase that includes playground replacement and ballfield improvements, improvements included rebuilding the racquet sports courts, resurfacing the basketball court, replacing the park bridge, improving the parking lots, landscaping, and installing new park lighting.
