Project Overview

What is a Safety Action Plan?

A Safety Action Plan uses federal financial support for planning and infrastructure initiatives to prevent death and serious injury on roads and streets involving all roadway users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, micromobility users, commercial vehicle operators, and motorists.

What is a Safety Action Plan's Purpose?

  • To identify high crash locations
  • To engage with the community to receive their input and direction
  • Recommend intersections and roadway segments that could be modified in accordance with the Vision Zero Program

What areas will the study cover?

The study covers all of Huntersville including the extraterritoral jurisdiction (ETJ). A map of the study area is available at the bottom of this page.

How can my voice be heard?

There will be two phases of public engagement during the study. The first, focused on listening to the community, will help the Project Team learn about problem areas and concerns within the study area. The second phase of engagement will take place between April and June and be focused on presenting recommendations to the community to gain support.

The first public open house will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Town Hall Room 264! (14704 N. Old Statesville Road Huntersville, NC 28079) Please come to share your thoughts on roadway safety to inform our plan!
