2024 Zebulon Public Works Residents Survey
The Zebulon Public Works Department provides a variety of services to the Town of Zebulon and its citizens. This survey is an opportunity for you to give us feedback on which services you like and use, which ones you would like to see added or improved, and how we’re doing as a department. The survey only takes 5 minutes to complete, and it will provide valuable insight that will help shape the future of Zebulon Public Works. Thank you for taking the time to share your input with us.
1. The Public Works Department maintains four facilities: Town Hall, the police station, the public works site, and the yard waste recycling center. This includes routine maintenance and repairs for the structures and parking lots, landscaping, and irrigation.
2. The Public Works Department is responsible for sweeping the public streets inside Town. The downtown area is swept weekly, main thoroughfares throughout Town are swept twice monthly, and residential areas are swept monthly.
3. The Public Works Department is responsible for the public right-of-way, which includes streets, sidewalks, and certain landscaped areas in the right-of-way, such as the highway off-ramps.
4. The Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance of street signs, including stop signs, street name signs, speed limit signs, and others.
5. The Public Works Department is responsible for preventing the buildup of snow and ice on the public roads inside Town limits, primarily through the application of brine when winter weather is forecast.
6. The Public Works Department is also responsible for clearing ice and snow from in-town streets and from public facilities after winter storms.
7. When fallen trees or limbs create hazardous conditions on public roads and grounds, Zebulon Public Works responds to clear the hazard.
8. The Public Works Department is responsible for the biweekly collection of leaves and grass clippings from in-town residences. This is currently performed by our staff using a leaf truck to vacuum leaf and grass piles from the curb.
9. The Public Works Department is responsible for the biweekly collection of yard waste from in-town residences. This is currently performed by our staff using a knuckleboom to pick up branches and other woody yard debris.
10. The Public Works Department manages the contract with Green For Life (GFL) for the weekly collection of trash and biweekly collection of recycling from in-town residences.
11. The Public Works Department is responsible for the weekly collection of bulk waste from in-town residences. Bulky trash that doesn’t fit into the rollout cart can be placed at the curb for Public Works staff to collect each week. This includes:
- Mattresses
- Furniture (no glass)
- Kitchen appliances
- Washers/Dryers
- Grills (no fuel)
- Mowers (no oil/gas/batteries)
12. The Zebulon Public Works Department strives to provide a high level of customer service to all citizens. We do this through the provision of services and through our interactions with the public.
