What We Heard in Previous Community Engagements

  • Retain as many swings as possible.
  • Preference for “natural” or “modern” play equipment was essentially split.
  • Consider play equipment that can be used for kids and adults.
  • Provide an increased amount of seating and picnic tables.
  • Improve paths and accessibility for all, including those with mobility challenges.
  • Consider trail improvements by S Quincy St and 12th St S.
    • For context, it is important to note that these trail improvements are outside of the project area and scope/budget for this project.
  • Emphasize the planting of native species to benefit local ecosystems.
  • Ease of maintenance should be considered for renovated amenities.

We gathered these valuable insights through a variety of engagement opportunities, including:

  • Online questionnaire
  • October 18 community event at Doctor's Run Park
  • October 28 pop-up at the Barcroft Apartments' Trunk or Treat event
  • November 13 pop-up at the Doctor's Run volleyball court
