Climate Ready DC 2.0
The climate is changing. Precipitation, flooding, and extreme heat are becoming more frequent and more extreme in the District of Columbia. Community feedback is an important part of hearing how these changes affect life in the District and understanding what government can do to help the city and its residents prepare. As the District strives to reduce our contributions to global climate change by reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, we must also prepare for a new climate future.
The Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) and the Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency (HSEMA) are revising Climate Ready DC and the Climate Action chapter of Resilient DC. When completed, these updated documents will create a roadmap for how District government can best ensure that District residents, businesses, infrastructure and environment can thrive in the face of climate change.
What does it mean to be “Climate Ready”?
The strategies included in Climate Ready DC and Resilient DC are intended to help District residents prepare for and thrive in the face of changes to our climate. We need to hear from you to make sure the new strategies to be included in Climate Ready DC 2.0 are right. DOEE and HSEMA invite you to share your stories and thoughts by taking the survey included on this page, finding us at upcoming events, or signing up for email updates about the project.
