The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is proposing improvements along U.S. 6 between the City of Sandusky and the City of Huron, in Erie County, Ohio to meet the goals of the Connectivity Corridor. As a separate project, ODOT is including the construction of a segment of the Sandusky Bay Pathway to promote continuous pedestrian-friendly access between the cities of Sandusky and Huron. This project has been developed through collaboration with many local government agencies and private businesses. It would not be possible without the following funding partners: Federal Highway Administration; City of Sandusky; Erie County Commissioners; City of Huron; Erie Shores and Islands; Erie County Regional Planning Commission; Cedar Fair Entertainment Company.
ODOT is hosting a public meeting that can be attended in-person and online:
- An In-Person Public Meeting will be held on March 28, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 pm at the BGSU Firelands Campus, Cedar Point Center Auditorium.
- The public meeting will also be held via a one-month Virtual Open House, through this project website, from March 28 through April 28, 2024.

Construct 5 modern roundabouts at the following intersections:
- U.S. 6 (Cleveland Road) and Perkins Avenue
- U.S. 6 (Cleveland Road) and Camp Road
- U.S. 6 (Cleveland Road) and Rye Beach Road
- U.S. 6 (Rye Beach Road) and the State Route (SR) 2 interchange ramps
Add a center two-way left turn lane on U.S. 6 between Camp Road and Rye Beach Road.
Construct a 10-foot-wide multi-use path at the following locations:
Sandusky Bay Pathway: This portion of the path will begin at Cedar Point Drive, cross over Pipe Creek in Castaway Bay, and continue along Heron Creek Drive before turning south at E. Shoreway drive to continue east along the north side of U.S. 6, ending at Hemminger Ditch (near the entrance to the Landing Park). Development of The Landing Park will be administered separately by the City of Sandusky.
On the north side of U.S. 6, from the Cedar Point Sports Center to Rye Beach Road.
On the east side of Rye Beach Road, from Cleveland Road through the State Route 2 interchange to University Drive (at the Bowling Green State University Firelands Campus).
The Sandusky Bay Pathway will be constructed in 2024. Construction for the U.S. 6 Multi-use Pathway and the Connectivity Corridor will begin in April 2026 and be completed in October 2027.

Why are we hosting an in-person public meeting and virtual open house?
To ensure the proposed project is viable and successful, we are asking all those interested to attend and participate in this public meeting. The purpose of the public meeting is to discuss the project and proposed improvements with the community, answer questions, and gather community input before making final decisions.

ODOT has assumed the Federal Highway Administration’s responsibilities under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding signed December 14, 2020, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
