Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is dredging the pond at Freedom Park and hydraulically dredged the pond at Park Road Park to remove sediment, trash, and debris to improve water quality and public safety. The Park Road Park dredging project was substantially complete in December 2025 and the Freedom Park dredging began in January 2026. The parks shall remain open during these projects, and you are asked to avoid the areas of active dredging operations. Please visit the specific project tabs above to learn more about each project.
