Welcome to the public engagement opportunity for the Lithia Pinecrest Road from Fishhawk Boulevard to East Lumsden Road Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study. Your responses will help Hillsborough County gain insight into the community’s desire for the proposed road improvements. This virtual public engagement will be open from May 7 to May 21, 2025, and the in-person Open House is 5:30 p.m., May 13, 2025, at the Bloomingdale High School Cafeteria, 1700 E. About the Project
The purpose of this study is to identify and evaluate ways to relieve congestion and enhance safety on Lithia Pinecrest Road. The study will identify and evaluate potential improvements to Lithia Pinecrest Road from Fishhawk Boulevard approximately 6.2 miles to Lumsden Road and on Bloomingdale Avenue from Culbreath Road to Pearson Road. (See map below.) The total project length is 7.5 miles.
Safe mobility for all roadway users, regardless of mode of travel, will be considered and incorporated into the study and the alternatives evaluated. Alternatives will be generated based on the result of a traffic analysis and feedback provided by the community.
Based on previous feedback received, these alternatives may include:
- Widening for additional through-lane capacity
- Access management improvements to incorporate turn lanes onto side streets
- Signal coordination as an alternative to roundabouts and other intersection configurations
- Improved pedestrian and bicycle accommodations, including shared-use paths, a connected sidewalk system, buffered bike lanes, mid-block crossings, etc.
- Moderating travel speeds to improve safety through reduced lane widths, lane deflections, landscaping, and context-based roadway treatments, etc.
