Fall Line Trail
Fall Line Trail
The Fall Line Trail is a 43-mile-long regional, multi-use trail connecting Ashland to Petersburg. Hanover County’s 4.8-mile portion stretches from the already completed Ashland Trolley Line Trail to Woodman Road in Henrico County.
Timeline:
The contractor responsible for Hanover County’s construction has divided the trail into six sections. The first four sections are expected to be complete by the end of 2024 and opened to the public following approval from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). The bridge section crossing into Henrico County will be the last stage completed. Estimated completion is September 2025.
Funding Sources:
- Central Virginia Transportation Authority (CVTA): $8.380 Million
- The CVTA is a regional authority focused on funding transportation projects that benefit Central Virginia.
- For the Hanover portion of the Fall Line Trail, the CVTA has allocated $8.380 million. This funding comes from regional taxes and fees collected by the CVTA, not from Hanover County's budget.
- State Funding: $4.990 Million
- The Commonwealth of Virginia is contributing $4.990 million to the project.
- These funds are part of state-level initiatives to improve transportation infrastructure and promote recreational opportunities across Virginia.
