Wenas and L.T. Murray wildlife areas travel management planning
The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is creating a Travel Management Plan for the Wenas and L.T. Murray wildlife areas in Kittitas and Yakima counties. WDFW seeks input from the public to better understand the route network, and how those routes are used, to inform future route designations.
WDFW will host two in-person public meetings on this planning for the wildlife areas. Meeting goals are to inform the public on the travel management planning process and how to engage and gather input on:
- Inventoried routes to ensure the map is accurate and informative for designation decisions
- How you use the inventoried routes
- Opportunities, issues, concerns related to the route network
Meetings will be held from 4-7 p.m. on June 11 and 12 at the following locations:
- June 11: Armory Hall at the Kittitas Event Center
901 East 7th Avenue
Ellensburg, Washington 98926
- June 12: Selah Civic Center (Main Room)
216 S 1st Street
Selah, Washington 98942
No virtual meeting option will be available. The same materials will be available for review at each meeting.
There will be maps of the route inventory; however, no route decisions will be made. Feedback will help WDFW balance sustainable recreation access with habitat protection and conservation goals.
Those unable to attend the in-person open house will be able to review meeting materials and comment online through July 12.
Meeting materials and commenting will open on June 11 at this website. Check back soon!
The Wenas and L.T. Murray Wildlife Areas span over 155,000 acres and feature more than 200 miles of motorized (Green Dot) and non-motorized routes, including the Manastash Ridge Trail system.
