Ongoing Activities
1300 West Sewer Line Work
Private utility lines are being installed for a new development south of 9000 South on 1300 West. This work is expected to take several weeks. Plan on delays and turning movement restrictions while work is taking place.
700 West to 900 West
As early as March 18, work on improvements to 700 West will start. These improvements include upgraded storm drains, new asphalt, and additional sidewalks, curb and gutters. This work will require southbound traffic to be closed and detoured at Sandy Parkway as crews install new storm drain lines across 700 West. Northbound traffic will remain open and local two-way traffic will be allowed between 8400 South and 8800 South. Click here for the detour map.
900 West to Redwood Road
Work to install a sidewalk on the north side of 9000 South between the Utah Islamic Center and the Rocky Mountain Power substation is starting with demolition of the old curb, gutter, and asphalt. Patrons to the Utah Islamic Center and adjacent office building may only enter from the business driveway to the west of the center.
Work continues on the southeast corner the the 9000 South Redwood Road intersection with a northbound lane closure and driveway access interruptions to the adjoining businesses. Drivers should plan on extra time through this area. This work will last through March 31 and patrons to the business complex should use accesses on Redwood Road or further east on 9000 South. See the map for additional information. See the map for alternate accesses.
As early as March 29 and 30, traffic on 9000 South between Redwood Road and 700 West will be shifted to the south side the road. This will allow work to start on the north side of 9000 South including new pedestrian ramps at intersections and concrete repairs along with asphalt removal and replacement. Asphalt removal and replacement on the north side of 9000 South between 900 West and Redwood Road is planned for mid-April lasting through May.
Sidewalk work continues on the south side of 9000 South between 1075 West and Redwood Road. Pedestrians should continue to use the north side of 9000 South.
Landscaping is being installed in the park strips on the south side of 9000 South between 1000 West and Redwood Road. Park strips will include drip irrigation and water-wise plantings.
Nearby residents and business may have an increase in noise, dust, and vibration as work takes place.
*Schedule is subject to change due to weather, equipment, or material delays.

Closures
Eastbound 9000 South left turn closed at 700 West
The left turning lane to 700 West from eastbound 9000 South will be closed. This closure is expected to last through Summer 2025. Traffic should use Sandy Parkway (450 West) as the detour route. Click here to see the recommended detour map. This closure is necessary to ensure safety as there is insufficient room to install a left-turning lane.
Patrons to the River Oaks Driving Range may only enter and leave eastbound on 9000 South. Drivers should not drive into the work zone as hazards may be present. Click here for the detour map.
