Washington Shrubsteppe Restoration and Resiliency Initiative Long-Term Strategy
The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), Washington State Conservation Commission (SCC), and Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) are requesting public input on a draft long-term conservation strategy for the state’s shrubsteppe landscape.
These three agencies have led a collaborative process with input from tribes, partners, and a wide range of stakeholders invested in the management of this landscape to present a comprehensive and cohesive set of goals, objectives, and actions to better conserve and restore the shrubsteppe landscape in the face of the increasing threat of wildland fire and other threats. The strategy includes a wildlife habitat restoration program to coordinate and share resources and services at the landscape scale, improved wildland fire protection and response to protect shrubsteppe habitat, wildlife, and people, and identifies spatial priorities for where to focus these efforts.
Please use the fields below to provide feedback on this draft strategy document and near-term actions. The public input period will remain open through 12 p.m. on Feb. 21, 2024.
