Upper Durant Wetland Conversion Vision Survey
Welcome to the online public survey for the Wetland Conversion of Upper Durant Lake project! The project aims to convert the Upper Lake into a system of wetland habitats that will successfully:
- Repair the failed dam,
- Preserve and diversify natural habitats,
- Improve water quality,
- Expand environmental education opportunities, and
- Advance the long-term objectives of the Durant Nature Preserve.
This survey represents the questions being asked at the in-person open house on Monday, September 23 from 6:00 -7:30 pm at Durant Nature Preserve’s Cambell Lodge (3237 Spottswood Street). This event is free and open to the public!
The City of Raleigh is interested in hearing your feedback on the following topics to help complete the vision for the new wetlands! The schematic design for the wetland includes a variety of habitats to support the project goals shown in the bullet points above. Once construction is complete, patrons can expect new trails around the wetland, boardwalk viewing platforms, and additional environmental education opportunities. Construction is not expected to begin until Spring 2026.
The survey will take approximately 2-5 minutes to complete and will be available online until 9/30/2024.
