Oaklawn Forward
Oaklawn Forward
Oaklawn Forward is a stakeholder driven initiative for the development and improvement of the West End's Historic District, a neighborhood center on Beatties Ford Road between the Brookshire Freeway and the Northwest School of the Arts. This historic civic and business district is directly adjacent to some of our most historic neighborhoods, the historic communities of Oaklawn Park, McCrorey Heights, and Washington Heights, which were built by and for African American prosperity. The reactivation of The Excelsior, the opportunity to break ground on new developments, and the return of the streetcar are some of the springboards for action that the initiative will synergize and address for the benefit of the Historic West End.
