Blount & Person Street Project - Design Open House - April 2023

Our goal is to turn the Blount and Person Street corridor into a complete street, balancing the range of mobility needs by providing a place for all transportation types.

The design team developed design plans based on feedback we received from the our first design concept meeting's public survey, stakeholder feedback, and engineering judgement.

Bike Lanes

The design plans call for buffered bike lanes between Hamond Road and MLK Boulevard along both Blount and Person Streets. Parking protected bike lanes on Person Street between Edenton Street and Delway Street, and a two-way cycle track along Blount Street between Edenton Street and Delway Street.

Parking

On-street parking will remain along the corridor. Both Blount and Person Streets will have parking allowed on both sides of the street from Hammond Road to MLK Boulevard. There will be some parking eliminated due to the traffic calming devises that we are proposing.

Between Edenton Streets and Delway Street there will be parking allowed on one side of the street only along both corridors.
