ADA Bus Stop Transition Plan and Action Plan
ADA Bus Stop Transition Plan and Action Plan
The Jacksonville Transportation Authority has a vision of universal access to dynamic transportation solutions. To demonstrate its commitment to this vision, the JTA has advanced the development of an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan and corresponding action plan, the Five-Year ADA Improvement Plan, to enhance overall safety and accessibility of JTA transit stops. The Transition Plan and approach to incrementally advance modifications to improve overall accessibility are designed to fulfill requirements of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and assist the JTA in achieving Federal Transit Administration (FTA) objectives of safety, infrastructure condition, congestion reduction, system reliability and economic vitality for all members of the community in the Northeast Florida region.
The Transition Plan is a living document designed to safeguard adherence to consistent design, construction and maintenance for all public transit facilities. The Transition Plan and companion Five-Year Improvement Plan (Action Plan), define data collection, analysis and methodologies to prioritize improvements for non-compliant bus stops. To ensure the successful implementation of the Transition Plan and the Action Plan, the JTA has created an ADA Transition Plan Committee and designated Authority representatives to coordinate and manage the necessary modifications to provide the Northeast Florida community with a 100% ADA compliant system, enabling safe universal access for all.
