Government 101
Government 101 is your opportunity to discover how the Town of Zebulon operates through conversations and presentations led by our Town management team.
During September and October, you can join six unique sessions showcasing different parts of our Town government. Participants will be a part of engaging conversations and have an opportunity to ask questions. They'll get further involved in their home, tour our buildings, parks and facilities, and get to know the staff and leaders who are building a better Zebulon every day.
Our Government 101 sessions include:

- 10/17 - Planning
- 10/24 - Parks and Recreation
Government 101 is designed for everyone, no matter your background, experience, or involvement in the Town. Whether you moved to Zebulon a month ago or are a lifelong resident, attend every Board of Commissioners meeting or are just discovering how our Town is run for the first time, Government 101 is for you.
After finishing Government 101, you will have a fuller understanding of how our Town operates and the intricacies of local government. You will also learn more ways that you can get involved inthe community, whether it’s through advisory boards, volunteer opportunities, upcoming events and activities, and more.

Introduction to Government 101 is the kickoff session for the Government 101 education series. In this session, Zebulon Town Manager Joe Moore will give an overview of the Town of Zebulon government, the inner workings of how the Town operates, the unique roles between the Mayor, Board of Commissioners, and Town Management, and how Zebulon residents can more involved in their home.
Introduction to Government 101 is expected to last an hour with an opportunity to ask questions and learn more at the end of the session as well.

Stormwater impacts the health of our entire community and our Public Works Department is working hard to maintain it. Join Public Works Director Chris Ray to learn more about the department, the importance of stormwater, and how you can get involved in maintaining a healthy Zebulon.

At the Government 101 "Fire" session, attendees will dive into the Zebulon Fire Department with our Fire Chief Chris Perry. At the Fire session, you will learn more about our Town Fire Department, how the department is protecting the health and safety of our community, what it means to be a firefighter, and have an opportunity to see the tools and equipment used by the Zebulon Fire Department.
The Fire session is expected to last an hour with an opportunity to ask questions and learn more at the end of the session as well.

At the Government 101 "Police" session, attendees will dive into the Zebulon Police Department with our Police Chief Jacqui Boykin. Discover all the ways a police agency impacts their community, from law enforcement to community engagement and public safety, as well as see the tools and equipment the officers of the ZPD use every day to protect our Town.
The Police session is expected to last an hour with an opportunity to ask questions and learn more at the end of the session as well.

At the Government 101 "Planning" session, attendees will dive into the Zebulon Planning Department with our Planning Director Michael Clark. As one of the fastest growing communities in North Carolina, you'll learn about how we're rising to meet this growth and take care of the Town of Zebulon's 10,000 residents through our roads, infrastructure, construction, and more.
The Planning session is expected to last an hour with an opportunity to ask questions and learn more at the end of the session as well.

At the Government 101 "Parks and Recreation" session, attendees will dive into the Zebulon Parks and Recreation Department with our Parks and Recreation Director Sheila Long. Parks and Recreation does more than just host games and maintain play spaces and their impact can be felt building community all across the Town. This is your chance to learn more about this incredible department and how you can get more involved with them.
The Planning session is expected to last an hour with an opportunity to ask questions and learn more at the end of the session as well.
