Tillery Neighborhood Park Survey #1
Tillery Neighborhood Park Survey #1
The 2.5 acres of undeveloped parkland is located at 1129 Tillery St. Austin TX 78702 in the Govalle Neighborhood. Originally purchased in partnership with the Austin Housing Department to provide a park alongside the Live + Make housing development, the parkland was acquired by the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department in May 2024. The parkland is unique in that it holds a large pecan grove that has been a fixture in the neighborhood since at least the 1980's. This survey will help the Austin Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) make an informed decision on what new opportunities are desired. Your feedback will inform the design team on what you want to see in your park! All questions are optional.
Concept Design
The property is currently undeveloped and lacks a sidewalk along Tillery St. Anticipated improvements will preserve the natural environment and the pecan trees on site. Currently there are approximately 100 trees on site, 12 which are heritage size pecan trees. Proposed amenities to be included that are typical of a neighborhood park will include a loop walking trail, covered pavilion, picnic areas, a playground, and fitness area.
Playscapes are designed outdoor structures where children engage in imaginative and physical play. These spaces often feature classic playground equipment such as swings, slides, and climbing structures. Playscapes are designed to encourage exploration, creativity, and social interaction, providing children with opportunities to develop physical skills, problem-solving abilities, and social connections. They can range in a variety of themes.
Nature play areas are designed to connect children with the natural environment through play. These spaces often incoporate natural elements to encourage physical activity, creativity, and environmental stewardship. By incorporating nature play elements, we aim to foster a deeper appreciation for the environment and create meaningful, enjoyable play experiences for children of all ages.
