Western Station Area Planning Survey
Western Station Area Planning Survey
Western Station Area Planning will take a close look at how best to take advantage of the city's investment in bus rapid transit (BRT) along the Western Boulevard BRT Corridor which will connect Downtown Raleigh with Downtown Cary. The plan will look at what makes for enjoyable and walkable places and will focus on ensuring that affordable housing options exist within walking distance of BRT stations.
In general, the study will include a look at what the community has already said are important considerations in places near BRT stations:
- Creating and retaining affordable housing units, including those affordable to very low-income households.
- Mixing land uses in station areas, such as places to live, work, and shop.
- Improving walkability so that people traveling to stations and other destinations can walk safely and comfortably.
- Creating great public spaces in station areas.
We’d like your help to get us started on the right foot! What else do you think the study should include - what should the study team focus on, and what questions we should ask the consultant teams who we will interview to conduct the study?
