Changes include:
- Replacing the existing 10' x 7' culvert with a 16' x 10' concrete box culvert
- Roadway work adjacent to the new culvert
- Embankment improvements
The construction will take place in either the fall of 2026 or in the spring of 2027. The contract is being written to allow the selected contractor flexibility for the timing of the improvements. Iowa 224 will be open over the winter months.
During the construction period, Iowa 224 will be closed to traffic and there will be a detour. The proposed detour would follow County Roads F-27, T-38, and F-17. Access to properties in the construction area shall be maintained at all times.
