Seward Highway Pavement Preservation: Seward to Grouse Creek (Milepost 0-8)
Seward Highway Pavement Preservation: Seward to Grouse Creek (Milepost 0-8)
The State of Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is proposing improvements to the Seward Highway from MP 0 at the intersection of Railway Avenue in Seward to MP 8 near Grouse Lake. The project will remove the top layer of the existing pavement, replace it with a new layer of asphalt, and install new pavement markings throughout the project limits. Signage will be replaced and updated as needed. The traffic islands and curbs will be reconfigured at the Railway Avenue and Port Avenue intersections. DOT&PF and the Alaska Railroad Corporation (ARRC) will work together to replace the rail crossings at Nash Road, Bear Lake Road, and Stoney Creek Avenue and clear the sight triangles for these road/rail intersections. Other work items include: replacing and updating pedestrian ramps, spot-repair of damaged sidewalks, replacing guardrail, upgrading guardrail end sections, clearing brush, road digouts in problem areas, drainage repairs and improvements, preventative bridge maintenance, and utility adjustments.
