Snow River Bridges Nonmotorized Pathway as Environmental Mitigation for Sterling Highway Milepost 45‐60
Snow River Bridges Nonmotorized Pathway as Environmental Mitigation for Sterling Highway Milepost 45‐60
This project will install a pedestrian bridge on the center channel snow river bridge to accommodate the construction of a new trail by the U.S. Forrest Service. The bridge will feature an experimental snow melting system to eliminate snow loading that would otherwise cause DOT&PF to restrict loads on the Snow River bridge.
Project Overview
Carbon fiber tape-based deicing installed at the pathway to the north entrance of ULB Annex on the UAA campus.
Left: Installation. Right: Carbon fiber tape snowmelt system at work.
This is the existing bridge on the Sterling Highway over the Kenai River at Cooper Landing. It is an example of a light-weight pedestrian bridge that we are considering for the Snow River Bridge.
