Thanks for Joining the Budget Town Halls
A big thank you to everyone who joined one of our Budget Town Halls to share your feedback and budget priorities. The 2027 Budget will be adopted on Thursday, September 17, during the City Council session that begins at 9 a.m.
You can catch a live stream of the meeting on the City's Facebook page or a TVSA channel:

You can listen live by calling 210-207-5555. American Sign Language (ASL) and Spanish interpretation available.

Prepare Today for a Stronger Tomorrow!
The Office of Emergency Management invites you to the 15th Annual Community Preparedness Workshop.
Date & Time: September 19, 2026, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Location: Emergency Operations Center (8130 Inner Circle Drive, 78235)
Here are several ways to learn from experts at this free workshop, held during National Preparedness Month:
- Learn practical preparedness tips from local experts
- Connect with community partners and learn about available resources
- Explore the City’s Hazard Mitigation Plan
- Share your ideas for reducing risks from future hazards
- Take steps to help protect your family, neighborhood and community
This year’s theme, “Preparing Today for a Stronger Tomorrow,” puts the focus on action. What we do today can help San Antonio be safer and more resilient when the unexpected happens.

More Thursday Night Fun Ahead
The City is extending Downtown Thursday!
Through the end of the year, residents and visitors will have more reason to enjoy Thursday nights downtown included in the list below:
- Live entertainment
- Food and drink specials
- Outdoor programming
- Cultural experiences
- Partner-hosted events
Visit the Downtown Thursday website below to see partner specials and the weekly event lineup.
Downtown businesses and organizations interested in participating can sign up online. Over 35 groups have already joined the program.
Visitors continue to park for free at City facilities on Thursdays after 5 p.m. An online parking map highlights all parking locations.

Tour de las Misiones
Enjoy some fun and fitness at the Tour de las Misiones!
Whether you bike, run, or walk, this annual event takes you through the San Antonio Missions. This historic area is the only United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site in Texas - recognized around the world for its outstanding cultural and historical significance.
Date & Time: Saturday, September 12, 7:15 a.m.
Location: Mission County Park Pavilion (6032 Padre Dr., 78214)
The Tour de las Misiones offers a unique blend of fitness, culture, and community for all ages and abilities. Celebrate afterward at Mission County Park with live music, local artisans, food, and more!

Sign Up for Neighbors Together
As the temperatures cool off a bit, it’s a great time to get outdoors and connect with neighbors. San Antonio Neighbors Together event returns on October 6, the first Tuesday of October. The annual event brings residents and San Antonio Police together for a citywide evening focused on crime prevention and building relationships to keep neighborhoods safe.
Everyone is welcome at San Antonio Neighbors Together! Find an event near you, register and get involved. Plan to host an event? Register by Monday, September 14 to receive full SAPD support.

Celebrate Fiestas Patrias
Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15. The observance runs through October 15 and it highlights San Antonio’s long-standing relationship with Mexico. There are several events planned, including Dieciséis de Septiembre (September 16), which honors Mexico's Independence. Join this celebration of heritage and history.

September Household Hazardous Waste Event
If you’ve got some hazardous household waste that needs proper disposal, here’s a good time to visit the Bitters HHW Drop Off location.
Date & Time: Saturday, September 5, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Location: Bitters Bulky Waste Collection Center (1800 Wurzbach Parkway, 78216)
Remember to bring your ID, and a CPS Energy bill to show proof of residency. Contents should be kept in their original container. For more information on accepted materials, please visit SAreycles.org.
Accepted materials include paints, batteries, e-waste, cleaning supplies, chemicals, and light bulbs.
