Good Afternoon,
Over the past two weeks, the Public Works - Streets Division crews have successfully removed and replaced 60 feet of sidewalk for the Patton Sidewalk Accessibility Improvement project, despite challenging weather conditions. Crews have nearly completed the sidewalk replacement in front of Sweet Treats (77, 81 Patton Ave) and Empire Tattoo (83 Patton Ave).
Access to businesses
Crews have taken extra care to ensure continued access to businesses and will continue to work with businesses to schedule construction in front of business access. Temporary access to Thirsty Monk (92 Patton Ave) remains in place via a sidewalk detour.
Tree replacement update
Crews planned to install a tree pit that was unable to be placed across the street in front of the bank, between Sweet Treats and Empire Tattoo. Unfortunately, due to a vaulted sidewalk in this location, crews are unable to proceed with this installation, resulting in a net loss of one tree that we intended to replant.
Upcoming work
In the coming weeks, we will be working towards Apotheca (85 Patton Ave) and Yacht Club (87 Patton Ave). This phase will involve the removal of two trees, the removal and replacement of approximately 60 feet of sidewalk, and a curb ramp. The current traffic control measures will remain unchanged until we approach the Yacht Club. We will send an updated map before traffic control measures are changed.
Progress photos
Below you will find some before and after pictures of the north side of Patton Avenue.
Thank you for your attention, and please reach out if you have any questions. We appreciate your continued patience and cooperation.
Best regards,
Lee Morrison
