Capital Delivery Services (CDS) builds public projects to support the community. CDS welcomes communities to learn more about projects that are reshaping local areas at our next Building Austin informational session – Thurs., November 7th from 6:30 to 8 p.m., virtually, or in-person at the Dove Springs Public Health Facility. East Braker Lane Extension

• Construction began mid-March. A retaining wall will be installed and once that is completed a large diameter water line will go in. So far the Water line A (48-inch main) is 98% complete and just over 500 feet of box culverts have been installed. This project is expected to reduce congestion on East Parmer Lane.

• Phase two of the project began in May and is on schedule for completion by late November. Construction teams will start subgrade proof rolling to prepare for pavement layers to be constructed on the North side. Prepare for traffic lane shift to the center lanes which is tentatively scheduled for November 1. 

Longhorn Dam

Longhorn Dam Multimodal Improvements

• Construction on New Wishbone Bridge began July 1. The pedestrian bridge across Holly Shores Peninsula has been removed, the old tunnel under South Pleasant Valley Road has been filled, and excavation for the new underpass has begun. Traffic along South Pleasant Valley Road will continue in its current configuration and trail users will continue to be re-routed onto the east side of South Pleasant Valley Road and Canterbury Street. 

Roy G. Guerrero Park Stabilization

• This is Watershed Protection Department's largest erosion project ever and is about 75% completed. The pedestrian bridge has been fabricated and delivered to the site which marks a significant milestone for the project. Concrete drop structure construction on the east side of the creek as well as earthen berms and rock rip rap to armor the banks have been completed. 

Barton Springs Bathhouse

Joan Means Khabele Bathhouse Rehabilitation

• Formerly the Barton Springs Bathhouse. Completed work includes demolition inside the women's shower and dressing court, subgrade and rebar prep for concrete slabs in the rotunda and west exhibit area, and concrete foundation installation inside the rotunda and west exhibit area. Prep work for the installation of electricity throughout the women's shower and dressing court has begun, as well as roof replacement over the Spectator's Gallery, and the framing walls and concrete slab placement over the east exhibit area.

Spicewood Springs Road Project

• Contractors are currently continuing construction on phase one of four. Eastbound lanes of the road will experience partial roadway construction while a temporary roadway is being completed. Driveways on the southern end of Spicewood Springs Road are in the process of being reconstructed. Phase two is expected to begin in the next few months.

Mexican American Cultural Center Expansion (MACC)

• The MACC has entered phase 2 of the 2018 Improvements Plan. Progress continues as concrete slabs for the first and second floors have been poured, wall framing has begun for the new additions and renovated areas, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing lines are being installed. City Council approved artists Katherine Telley and Ruben Esquivel to design and create artwork for the MACC as part of the Art in Public Places (AIPP) Project.
