Dear Neighbors,
This message is being sent to those who have subscribed for updates on the Patton Ave Sidewalk Accessibility Improvements project.
Over the past four months, staff at the City of Asheville have been working to get the funding pieces in place to start this project. We encountered some delays in our application to the federal department of Housing and Urban Development and weren’t able to begin in the winter as expected. But we’re happy to report that the Community Development Block Grant funds have been released to the City and work on this important project can now begin.
When we spoke with business and property owners last fall, we heard concerns about impact to deliveries, pedestrian access to storefronts, tree canopy loss, and potential revenue loss during existing economic stress.
The City is dedicated to coordinating with you to minimize impacts for your business during construction. Construction will begin on the South side of Patton Ave from Coxe to Asheland Ave and progress North along Patton Ave. A map of the project area can be found on the project page here.
Public Works staff will be meeting with impacted businesses to coordinate construction to minimize impacts as early as next week. Please reply to this email to schedule a meeting with a Public Works Staff member by March 1st.
Sincerely,
Lee Morrison
