Carter Ann Patton Stormwater Improvement Project Update August 1, 2024
I am writing to provide you with an update regarding the ongoing Carter-Ann-Patton Stormwater Improvement project.
Water Main Relocation
The water main relocation work has been completed in the project area.
New traffic control pattern beginning August 5
Crews will be installing a new stormwater system on Monday, August 5. During this work all westbound traffic will be closed and detoured (see map below) Eastbound traffic will be reduced to one lane traveling into downtown.
While we understand the inconvenience this lane closure may cause, drivers are encouraged to consider using I-240 or explore other available alternate routes to navigate downtown efficiently. If an emergency arises in these locations, we will make every attempt to assist emergency personnel with access.
Upcoming Work
A night closure will be initiated on a portion of Patton Avenue and connecting streets in the coming weeks to allow for the continued installation of the new stormwater system. Work will be carried out overnight to minimize disruption to area businesses, residents, and visitors.
Details for the night closure will be communicated soon through email, AVL Alert, and the project page.
We understand that construction activities may cause inconveniences, and we sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time. The City of Asheville is committed to keeping you informed as work progresses. For more information and future updates, please visit the project page.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation as we work towards enhancing our community's infrastructure.
