GETTING THERE UPDATE
Thanks to the 850+ people that completed the Getting There: Your Transportation Story survey! The survey will help the Baltimore Regional Transportation Board (BRTB) to better understand what’s working, what’s not, and what changes would make getting around the Baltimore region easier.
Most people (54%) said the transportation system mostly meets their needs. But only 11% said it meets their needs very well.
When we asked what matters most in a transportation system, people said they care about:
- Transportation that is reliable and efficient (69%)
- Safety (46%)
- Making sure it meets their personal travel needs (46%)
We also asked what should be the top priorities for future transportation investments. The top three were:
- Improve how often transit comes, how reliable it is, and how safe it feels (54%)
- Expand transit service by adding new stops, new routes, or reaching more areas (45%)
- Create more walkable, mixed-use neighborhoods where people can live, work, and access daily needs in one place (39%)
The BRTB will use the results to help inform the next Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) for the Baltimore region, which will launch in fall 2025.

YOUR REGION. YOUR VOICE. YOUR ENGAGEMENT HUB.
We’re excited to share two updates that make it easier for everyone to get involved in decision-making.
First, our engagement site has a new name —YourRegionYourVoice.org. While the look and layout remain the same, the new name better reflects our goal—to give you a direct way to share your voice on issues that matter in our region.
Second, we’ve added a new Accessibility Widget to make sure people of all abilities can be involved.
With just one click, users can:
- Resize text
- Adjust color contrast
- Navigate by keyboard
- Automatically detect their preferred language
We’re always working to make sure that all residents—regardless of their needs—can take part in shaping the future of our community. This widget is one tool to help ensure a better experience for everyone, especially those with visual, mobility, or reading challenges.
Check it out at YourRegionYourVoice.org—and look for the Accessibility icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen.

RIDE THE NEW FREE OLD ELLICOTT CITY TROLLEY ON WEEKENDS!
The OEC Trolley is a free bus that runs up and down Main Street in Ellicott City. It was created with help from the Regional Transportation Agency (RTA) of Central Maryland and the Ellicott City Partnership.
The Trolley runs every Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. It stops about every 10 to 15 minutes and goes from Parking Lot F (off Ellicott Mills Drive) to Parking Lot A (off Oella Avenue)—right across the Patapsco River.
The Trolley also connects with RTA Route 405, which serves other parts of the Ellicott City area along US 40. During special events or big weekends, the Trolley route will go even farther—up to the historic Circuit Courthouse parking lot at 8360 Court Avenue—to help more people reach Main Street.
The OEC Trolley uses two brand-new, wheelchair-friendly buses. Each one can carry 12 to 14 people and has room for wheelchairs too. Hop on and enjoy the ride!

AMTRAK HOSTS MEETINGS ON THE FREDERICK DOUGLASS TUNNEL
More than 150 years old, the Baltimore & Potomac (B&P) Tunnel dates from the Civil War era. It is also the largest bottleneck on the Northeast Corridor between Washington, D.C. and New Jersey.
The Frederick Douglass Tunnel Program is focused on replacing the old B&P Tunnel. The goal is to make train travel in the area faster, safer and more reliable.
Amtrak hosts community meetings in person and online. Everyone is welcome, and project staff will be there to share updates on traffic and construction and how the project is moving along. They will also be on hand to talk and listen to your thoughts.
The next public meetings are set for:
- Monday, June 2 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. virtual
- Wednesday, June 11 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in-person
