Tax season is right around the corner! The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program provides free income tax return preparation to eligible taxpayers. VITA helps working families take advantage of all the tax credits they are eligible for.

Basura Bash
Date: Saturday, February 17 from 8 a.m. - 11 a.m.
Basura Bash, founded in 1995, is the largest single-day waterway clean-up in Texas and the only event that collects recyclable waste products. Over the past near three decades the massive waterway clean-up has clean-up more than 1,500,000 LBS of trash thanks to 50,000+ volunteers.

Let's Rodeo, San Antonio!
Date: The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo kicks off on Thursday, Feb. 8, and goes through Sunday, Feb. 25
It’s rodeo season in San Antonio! 🤠 Since 1949, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo has grown to become one of the largest, most prestigious single events in the city of San Antonio, with approximately 1.5 million visitors entering the grounds each year.

Black History Month Block Party
Date and Time: Thursday, February 29 from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Location: Dawson Community Center
Wrap up Black History Month with a festive block party featuring fun for the whole family! Activities will highlight famous Black Heroes including George Coleman Poage, Robert S. Duncanson, George Washington Carver, and more. Join us when the sun goes down to watch Soul (2004) and enjoy treats from local food trucks.

In-Conversation Lecture Series: Black History Month

Parks & Recreation is excited to introduce a new lecture series, In Conversation, a monthly facilitated conversation with local artists, thinkers, and leading community members. As the series kicks off during Black History Month, Parks will host three local artists from the San Antonio Black community.

Permanent HHW Drop-Off Center
- Date and Time: Tuesday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. (except holidays)

Monthly HHW Drop-Off Center
- Date and Time: First Friday and the next-day Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. (except holidays)
- Location: 1800 Wurzbach Pkwy, 78216
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) is any product labeled toxic, poisonous, corrosive, combustible, or flammable. The Drop-Off Centers are free for City of San Antonio residents. An ID and a recent copy of a CPS Energy bill showing payment of the Environmental Fee are required.

City Manager's 5k
Date and Time: Saturday, March 9 at 6:30 a.m. (opening ceremonies), 7 a.m. (5K starts)
Location: San Antonio Zoo (3903 N. St. Mary’s St., 78212)
Have you registered for the City Manager’s 5K yet? If not, what are you waiting for? Walkers and runners alike will have the opportunity to travel a course through the San Antonio Zoo, where you’ll be able to take in the sights and sounds of the beloved animals.
